Understanding Bra Sizes
A well-fitting bra helps to evenly distribute the weight of the breasts, alleviating unnecessary strain on the shoulders, back, and neck. Chronic pain and posture issues might arise from prolonged use of an ill-fitting bra. Finding the right fit also provides a smoother, more flattering silhouette. Understanding bra sizes is fundamental to finding the perfect fit and comfort. A common misconception is that the number in a bra size refers to the overall size of the bra, when in fact it represents the band size around your rib cage. The letter, on the other hand, indicates the cup size, which measures the volume of the breasts. Taking accurate measurements at home or getting professionally fitted in a store can help your overall bra-shopping experience. A well-fitting bra can positively impact your comfort, posture, and overall well-being.
How to Calculate Your Bra Size
To measure your bra size, first put on a non-padded or lightly lined bra. Wrap a soft measuring tape under your armpits, around your chest, and at band level. Take the measurement above the bust, where your straps usually connect to the bra. Keep this number. Then wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your bust. Continue to breath in and out to make sure you don’t pull tight. Enter these numbers into our How to measure to find your size.
How to Wash Bras
Specific wash instructions for Victoria’s Secret bras are provided in the product description online or on the garment tag. In most cases, Victoria’s Secret bras are machine washable. For tender care, let every bra rest for at least one day in between use to help the elastic last longer. Choose a gentle cycle with minimal spin and use a laundry bag to protect the straps. Heat can break down elastic, so try to lay your bras flat to dry.
How Many Bras Should I Own?
How many bras you should own depends on how often you use them and how you use them. Every bra should have a day of rest in between use, which means you should start with at least four everyday bras, assuming you can do laundry every week or so. Vary neutral colors with darker colors to give you an option for every outfit. When it comes to sports bras, be prepared to wash after each use. So, make sure you have a bra for every day that you work out until your next load of laundry.
